YPP Eligibility Checker

Track your progress toward YouTube Partner Program monetization across all three qualification paths.

YouTube Partner Program Requirements (2026)

YouTube offers three paths to monetization. The standard path (1,000 subscribers + 4,000 public watch hours in 12 months) unlocks full ad monetization including pre-rolls, mid-rolls, and post-rolls. The Shorts path (1,000 subscribers + 10 million Shorts views in 90 days) was introduced in 2023 for creators who primarily make short-form content. The lower fan-funding tier (500 subs + 3,000 watch hours or 3M Shorts views) unlocks Super Chats, Super Thanks, and channel memberships but not ad revenue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Shorts views count toward the 4,000 watch hours requirement?

No. Shorts views do not count toward the 4,000 public watch hours needed for the standard monetization path. Only long-form video watch time counts. Shorts have their own separate path: 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days, combined with 1,000 subscribers.

How long does YPP review take after applying?

YouTube states that review typically takes about a month, but can take longer during high-volume periods. Channels are reviewed by a combination of automated systems and human reviewers. You'll receive an email when a decision is made. If denied, you can reapply after 30 days.

Can I lose YPP status after being approved?

Yes. YouTube can remove YPP access if you receive community guidelines strikes, copyright strikes, violate advertiser-friendly content policies, or if your channel falls significantly below the eligibility thresholds during inactivity. Active channels in good standing rarely lose access, but ongoing compliance with YouTube's policies is required.
