Etsy Fee Structure Explained
Etsy charges sellers four types of fees on every sale. Understanding each one helps you price your listings accurately and avoid surprises on your monthly statement.
Fees last verified February 2026. Rates are subject to change — confirm current fees at etsy.com/seller-handbook before making pricing decisions.
| Fee Type | Amount |
|---|---|
| Listing Fee | $0.20 per item |
| Transaction Fee | 6.5% |
| Payment Processing (US) | 3% + $0.25 |
| Offsite Ads (standard) | 15% |
| Offsite Ads (high volume) | 12% |
The Shipping Fee Trap
Etsy's transaction and payment processing fees apply to the full amount the buyer pays — including any shipping you charge. If you charge $8 shipping on a $35 item, Etsy collects 6.5% + 3% on the full $43, not just the $35. This catches many new sellers off guard. Always factor shipping into your fee calculations, or use our Etsy Fee Calculator which includes shipping automatically.
Standard Sales
- $0.20 listing fee per sale
- 6.5% transaction fee on item + shipping
- 3% + $0.25 payment processing (US)

Offsite Ads Sales
- Additional 15% if sale is from Etsy's external ads
- Drops to 12% for shops earning ≥ $10K/year
- Sellers under $10K/year can opt out
- High-volume sellers are automatically enrolled

Common Questions About Etsy Fees
Which Etsy calculator should I start with?
Start with the Etsy Fee Calculator to understand what Etsy charges per sale, then move to the Profit Calculator to include your own costs. If you're setting a listing price for the first time, the Margin Calculator's break-even price tool is especially helpful.
How much does Etsy charge per sale?
Standard fees total roughly 9.7–10.5% of the order value plus a $0.45 fixed cost ($0.20 listing + $0.25 processing). On a $35 sale with $8 shipping, you'd pay approximately $5.20 in Etsy fees and keep about $37.80 before your own costs.
What's the difference between Etsy transaction fee and processing fee?
The transaction fee (6.5%) is Etsy's marketplace commission — their cut for connecting you with buyers. The payment processing fee (3% + $0.25) is the card processing cost for running payments through Etsy Payments. Both apply to the same order total (item + shipping).
Can I avoid Etsy Offsite Ads fees?
If your shop earns under $10,000 per year on Etsy, you can opt out of Offsite Ads in your shop settings. Once your shop crosses $10,000 in annual revenue, participation becomes mandatory — though your rate drops to 12% instead of 15%.
